Bill Stanford, PhD
Counselor
Bill is a counselor, educator, and the founder of The Inner Room. Bill’s higher education includes: a PhD in Human Development and Family Science (University of Georgia); a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling (Reformed Theological Seminary); and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (Wheaton College). He has worked as both an individual and relationship counselor in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Georgia.
In addition to counseling, Bill is an ordained minister, serving as the Associate Rector (Pastor) at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Athens, GA.
Bill’s scientific research has primarily focused on how religion affects family functioning (e.g., parenting). He has published peer-reviewed studies in the areas of couple-relationships, parenting, friendship, and adolescent religious development.
