Counseling
People seek help for all sorts of reasons. Whether you are experiencing a stressful life event, struggling in a relationship with a spouse or a child, or need some help overcoming fear or worry, we are here to help!
Christian counseling is about having a whole and integrated view of what it means to be a person created in the image of God and designed for relationships.

What is your approach to counseling?
As a trained counselor and published research scientist, I draw on over a decade of experience working with and studying how people function both individually and in relationships. My experience has taught me a great deal about what drives us, what derails us, and where we can go for healing. As a counselor, I come alongside to help as you look for rest and order in what is often a disorganized and chaotic world.
My approach to therapy centers on relationships: your relationship to yourself, your relationships with others, and ultimately, your relationship with God. To help us examine these relationships, I use a mixture of what are called systemic (i.e., attention to relationship patterns) and emotion-focused approaches. Essentially, these techniques represent powerful ways to approach the questions What’s driving me/us? and Why do I/we keep getting stuck?
What is Christian counseling?
Christian counseling is not about finding the right Bible verse to solve your problems, or about telling you to stop sinning—you don’t need a counselor for that!
Rather, Christian counseling is about having a deeply integrated vision for how the counseling sciences and faith fit together. God made us as biological and relational beings. Science can teach us a great deal about how our minds work and how relationships are maintained—or fall apart. However, I am convinced that the questions we care about, that ultimately drive us to seek help, are bigger than our neurotransmitters or positive-to-negative interaction ratios.
Am I loveable?
Am I safe?
Is there something I am supposed to be doing with my life?
These are the cries of a soul that was made for more than distractions and quick solutions. Christian counseling is an approach that affirms the centrality and immense complexity of these questions.
As a Christian counselor, my goal is to utilize the very best of what empirical research has to tell us about the human mind while also paying attention to the clear testimony of Scripture. By holding both perspectives together, I work to help you find the core questions of your heart and begin to ask them of your Father who knows you fully and loves you completely.
